The Miracle Requires Action
Often we pray for miracles we want to see the hand of God acting in our midst, but we often want to watch from the sidelines.
In the book of Joshua, we read this fabulous story where the lord, during flood season piles up the water to the left of the priests and the people of Israel cross over the Jordan River on dry ground. But the priests carrying the ark aren’t instructed to go and stand at the banks of the river Jordan, they are told to stand in the water. They have to get the feet wet. They have to step out in faith and stand in the water.
It makes me wonder how many times God wants to perform a miracle for us, but we stand at the edge not wanting to step into the water and get our feet muddy and wet. But miracles require a step of faith.
“Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s was due, the water from upstream stopped flowing.” Joshua 3:15
Many of us are praying for breakthroughs, we want to step into the dreams in our heart or our promised land, but are we willing to do what the Lord tells us to do? Are we willing to step into the water so that God can do His part.
Our job is to pray like everything depends upon God, but to work as if it depends upon ourselves. We always have a part to play.
So as you start your day, ask Him to direct your path. Ask Him to lead and guide you and listen to what He whispers in your ear. The other part about this story is so cool, is that it happens right opposite Jericho. All of Jerichos’s inhabitants get to see the miracle of the Lord helping His people, where the water stops flowing and the Israelites pass on dry ground!
What area is the Lord asking you to step out in faith?
I’m sure He has a plan. Get in His Presence and get your assignment.
